Evolve · Delta Steward · inherited software assessment and care

Software you inherited. A clearer way forward.

When a system matters but its history is unclear, Delta Steward starts with a paid assessment. You get evidence, practical choices and a written route forward before any further work is agreed.

The assessment comes first. Any later change or care is agreed separately.

01 · Why

Understand the system before you change it.

Inherited or third-party software can be difficult to judge from the outside. We start with what is there and what the business depends on, so the next decision is based on evidence.

See what you have

Make the system understandable

Bring together the system, its documentation and the way it is actually used.

Find what matters

Focus on business risk

Separate the urgent, the important and the change that can wait.

Choose the next step

Move forward with evidence

Decide whether to stop, change, modernise or discuss a defined care route.

02 · How

Three steps, in order.

The assessment is the decision point. Nothing beyond it is assumed.

  1. 01

    Free 15-minute fit call

Tell us what the system does, who depends on it and what needs attention. We check whether an assessment is the right next step.

  2. 02

    Paid assessment

We review the agreed system, evidence and access, then provide written findings, priorities and practical options.

  3. 03

    Separate decision

You decide whether to stop there, agree a defined change, consider modernisation or discuss a named care route.

03 · What

Useful evidence, practical choices and clear boundaries.

Delta Steward is designed to help you decide what the system needs. It does not promise that every inherited defect will be accepted or fixed.

Assessment

Written findings

The agreed system, evidence and priorities brought together in a form you can use.

After assessment

Defined changes

Where appropriate, a separately agreed change or small build with its own scope and price.

After assessment

Phased or ongoing work

Where appropriate, a separate modernisation phase or named care route for the assessed system.

04 · Price

Start with the assessment. Decide the rest with evidence.

06 · Questions

Questions about Delta Steward.

Is the assessment mandatory?

Yes. Every Delta Steward engagement starts with a paid assessment. It is the basis for deciding whether any further work is appropriate.

Do I have to commit to ongoing care?

No. Ongoing care is optional and agreed separately, only if the assessment supports it. Paying for the assessment does not create a care commitment.

What is the difference between Watch, Sustain and Advance?

Watch is light agreed care for stable assessed software. Sustain provides more regular planned attention. Advance supports a more active forward plan as the software changes. The written care terms set the named system, scope and limits.

Can you work with a system another supplier built?

Yes, where responsibilities, access and decisions are agreed before delivery begins. Root Delta remains accountable for the work in its scope. The assessment is still needed to establish what can responsibly be supported or changed; replacement is not assumed.

What happens after the assessment?

You receive written findings, priorities and practical options. After the assessment, you can stop, retain your current supplier, separately agree Root Delta work, consider modernisation or replacement, or consider a care route. No implementation is assumed; any next step is separate and subject to agreement.
